april favourites
Hi and welcome in May! As part of my quest for not being so depressed, I decided I should start making lists of my favourite things each month. These can be music, TV, movies, events, food and well, things. Without further ado, here are my April favourites!
TV — The Pitt
I have so much fun watching this show, despite, or maybe because of the way it stresses me out. As an extremely anxious person, having a show that I have to focus on completely and that will make me stressed out about anything outside of my life is extremely valuable and appreciated. I have to admit this season, and especially its finale, did not wow me the way that the first season did. It might be as simple as the formula of the show not being a new thing to me anymore, but this season felt rushed and incomplete at times. I feel like a lot of arcs weren't concluded in a satisfying way, which made this season feel more like half of a season. From what I've heard, season 3 is supposed to pick up the story without a big jump in time. Still, I'm personally not a fan of show-runners making a season that's just there to build tension for the next one (I had a similar gripe with one of my favourite shows — The Bear, so The Pitt isn't an isolated case). Despite all my critiques it's one of my favourite shows in a while, so it gets a spot on this list.
Event — seeing seals with my boyfriend
When my boyfriend visited me halfway through the month, we went to a seal rescue two hours away from where I live. We both really love these silly animals and seeing them in real life for the first time in a while was so fun. I almost cried when I first walked in and saw the first seal swim up to the side of the pool where we were standing. I did my favourite thing about being an adult, which is using my adult money for things my parents wouldn't want to get for me when I was little. I bought this seal plushie, which I carried around with me the whole day and named Crumb.

Music — PinkPantheress - Fancy That
In a time where no one makes albums anymore I appreciate PinkPantheress being honest about it and calling her LP a mixtape. I listened to an interview with her where she said going into this project without pressuring herself to make it an album gave her more freedom to sample and experiment, without having to create a narrative throughout the tracks. And well, it's just some good, fun pop that feels nostalgic and current at the same time.
Jewellery — my oldass h&m rings
Not much to say here, to be honest. I've been wearing these two rings that I bought ages ago in h&m in a much bigger set, when I decided I wanna wear gold jewellery instead of silver. I lost all the other ones, but these two are staying strong and surprisingly don't even stain my fingers green. I just love the light greenish colour of the "stone" (some sort of glass or plastic, I assume) with the gold ring.
Food — garlic and chilli pasta
My boyfriend and I took the risk of cooking a recipe we found on instagram. To be fair, it was a pretty simple variation of a pasta sauce we already make, but it was so much better than I'd expected it to be. You make it by melting some butter, adding chilli flakes and granulated garlic and after letting that simmer for a bit, you add cream and some pasta water, then once it's done reducing you throw your pasta in the pan. One time we also added some diced chicken to proteinmaxx. Simple, but so delicious.
Skincare — Skin79 sun gel
I need my sun cream to be as non-detectable to touch as possible or I will lose my mind. My previous favourite was the cerave spf 50 face cream that moisturised my face without making it feel gross and sticky. Unfortunately, it is expensive and even though its worth its price, I do not want to pay it. So I went looking for an alternative, and found this Polish distributor of a Korean brand of skincare, that had this cream discounted from 75zł to 25zł. And hey, I love a good bargain. Now, I'm the last person to follow any skincare or makeup trends, so I never jumped on the Korean skincare wagon, but this sun gel is the nicest sun cream I've ever used. I get it now. I'm still on the lookout for an spf I can use for the rest of my body, though, because this tiny bottle won't last me long if I lather my whole body in it.
And that's all! I think I want to start doing these little summaries, it's nice to reflect back on things that made me happy throughout the month. I hope May will be a good month to us all! <3
