june favourites
Another month another favourites post. I'll be so real I don't remember too much from this month on account of being horribly depressed, but I'm trying to find some appreciation for things that have happened anyway.
Event - Los Campesinos! show
I went to see one of my favourite bands at the beginning of this month! I saw them with Lucas, which made the whole event feel even more special, as it was our first time going to a show together and we both love live music. Right before the gig we discussed what songs we'd like to hear (each show on the tour was a bit different) and we said we'd love to see "Cemetery Gaits," but there's no way they would play it, because they hadn't played it in like a decade. We danced, we screamed, I was maybe three feet away from the singer of the band as he went down to the barricade for one of my favourite songs and reached out to the crowd. Then we decided to get out of the pit for a bit, we wanted to get some water and expected them to play one or two more songs we didn't care to be in the pit for. But then we heard the first notes of "Cemetery Gaits," looked at each other and ran back into the crow. Overall such a fun day and show, and I got to stay with Lu for almost two weeks after that.
Game - Minecraft
Yes, I'm going through another Minecraft phase. I've spent many hours this month mining and placing blocks and you know what? I love it. I'm having so much fun. I've built a house near a village that I fixed up, I built a little "church" that houses a nether portal, I explored the caves and faraway biomes. I'm getting a little bit bored of it now unfortunately, so I'm taking a break from it to write this post and hopefully I can come up with my next in-game project soon.
Music - Olivia Rodrgio's You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love
Olivia is my favourite pop girly and so far she's never disappointed me with her music. You Seem Pretty Sad tells the story of her relationship from beginning to end. As I've already discussed, I love when an album is an album, and in this one you can really tell the songs aren't just a story, but a tool to work through everything she felt -- the excitement, insecurity, love, heartbreak, anxiety. And it's fun. The Cure makes me wanna dance around my room, scream and cry. Bonus points for being relatable, (at least the first half of it, I'm not claiming the breakup half) because I, too, am anxious, slightly obsessive and in love with a guy from the UK. I really hope she keeps exploring her sound and musical influences, because getting to such a strong musical identity at just 23 is incredibly impressive. Great piece of pop music!
Honorary mention: Phoebe Bridgers' new single Lost Boys
Thing - this butter squishy
I randomly saw this squishy in a shop and got it immediately, because I love watching people play with them on instagram and to be honest it is as good as it seemed in the videos. It's made out of this foam that slowly turns back into its shape and it's incredibly satisfying to squish it 10/10.
PS sorry if you left a comment on my previous posts and I haven't replied to it - I always see them, but usually like a month late and feel silly replying so long after they've been left:( I'll try to be better about it, I love chatting with people!

i love los campesinos!! sounds so fun :')
